Although the Volkswagen Atlas might be a little late for an update it is still a beautiful and well-built family SUV, which is also easy to drive. This model comes in a variety of trims and has a lot of technology features that are perfect for modern drivers.
The standard V6 engine is at the top of this list. It makes a decent amount of power and has an eight-speed automatic transmission. Although it may not be as fast as some of its rivals it will get your whereabouts with relative ease.
The fuel economy isn’t the best but it’s better than base SUVs like Honda and Kia. It's able to get 20 mpg city-wide and 25 on the highway. That's not bad.

It offers decent interior comfort, including a quiet cabin with easy-to-use controls and decent sound insulation. The third-row seats have enough leg and shoulder room for adults. Additionally, there is a reclining back seat with an ottoman that allows you to store items when you're on the go.
The driver assistance technologies are numerous and very helpful. The standard Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert warn you when vehicles are close to your blind spots, and forward collision warning and autonomous emergency braking can help you avoid frontal crashes.
The infotainment system isn't as modern as some of its rivals, but it's intuitive and easy to use. The system features a head-up display and an upgradeable touchscreen. It also supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Volkswagen's top priority is safety. The Atlas is no exception. The standard suite contains active safety technologies such as lane departure warning, pre-collisionbraking system with pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control with stop/go function. An upgrade is possible to a available satnav system or a heads up display with navigation.
A turbocharged, 2.0-liter fourcylinder produces 269 horsepower and 273 pounds of torque. This powerplant can be ordered with front- or all-wheel-drive and it has a 5,000-pound maximum towing capacity.

EPA ratings are 21/25 mpg for front-wheel drive, and 20/24 mpg for all-wheel drives. This isn't the best-in-class rating, but it is better than the EPA ratings for other SUVs with four-cylinder engines.
Exterior Style
The Atlas is tall and bulky, with square shoulders and a straight profile. It's not as elegant as the Kia Telluride nor Hyundai Palisade.
Price
For a front-wheel-drive model, the Atlas' MSRP starts at $24,400. This includes the standard 2.0-liter four cylinder. You can find a V-6-powered model for about $1,650 more. A variety of trims allows you to personalize your Atlas to fit any driving condition.
