Turing test, MIT Technology Review
Turing test is a common test to determine how intelligent computers are. It can be difficult to perform correctly. The test involves an interrogator asking questions to the subject. The two sides are in separate rooms, and the test is conducted without physical contact. The test subjects' responses are evaluated to determine if they can differentiate between human and non-human responses. A human may fail the Turing test if they answer one question differently than a machine.
Also controversial is the Turing Test. Some critics claim that the Turing test is not able to measure high intelligence behavior. To pass the test, a machine must be as intelligent as a person. The machine cannot appear to be too intelligent. It would have to solve computational problems that are not possible for humans.
