Metawe was founded in 1999 as a consulting firm for Indigenous youth. It focuses on giving them the support and tools they need to become successful adults. The emphasis is on healthy relationships and life skills. The shop supports sustainable games like Photosynthesis. It also supports designers through Kickstarter campaigns as well as retail purchases. In its first month of operation, the shop has had mixed reviews.
